Living Life on the Deck

Voting ends July 23rd, 2014. Check out my video for which I’m a finalist to win a new Fiberon deck, and please vote, by clicking the heart icon: http://deckday.fiberondecking.com/

Capture1I had started this blog about a couple months ago, as I was going to document my before and after experience with a deck, as my wife and I had been evaluating options. We were looking at both Trex versus Fiberon, and made the decision on Fiberon after talking with a couple contractors. It’s important to understand it’s not a simple decision between Fiberon vs. Trex, but to know that each have varying levels of composite decking materials. So you can’t just compare apples to apples at name face value.

We then got quotes. Things got a little sad, as we didn’t realize just how expensive a deck can be — composite or not! The labor was actually the biggest problem! As luck would have it, a friend sent me a link to a contest Fiberon was having to film a video (a hobby and passion of mine!). A creative mind along with Apple iMovie and a cheap point and shoot that does video goes along a way! So here we are. We made it to be a finalist in the deck contest. At this point however, the ten finalists get put to the Internet for voting.

I do hope you enjoy watching the video. You should find it very entertaining! And based upon feedback, no other video comes close! So please, I hope you’ll visit http://deckday.fiberondecking.com before July 23rd, 2014 and vote for “Martin Weiss’ Favorite Memory is Living Life on his Deck.” I’m also reasonable however, if in your opinion you find a better video, then do vote for them.

Thanks, and stay tuned for detailed posts on the deck before and after. I have catching up to do. My first posts will be:

  • Trex vs. Fiberon vs. Wood and why we chose Fiberon (our choice before this contest, and regardless of outcome)
  • The making of the video from above!
  • The design — how we chose the design working with the existing deck
  • The destruction (should be fun)
  • … and then more

Thanks again and enjoy!
